In operation since 1990, Assistive Vocational Technology Associates (AVTA) is a partnership
between Inge Martin and Monica Ackermann
who have over 25 years experience
with assistive technology and job accommodation.
Helping to improve employment and educational
accessibility through accommodation, AVTA
has worked with federal, provincial and
municipal governments, as well as in academic, legal and private
settings.
Inge is a workplace accommodation
consultant. Her specialty areas include; job accommodation,
ergonomics, work site evaluation, functional ability evaluation and life kills counseling.
Monica is a Professional Systems Design Engineer and member of
the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Her specialty areas
include; job accommodation, assistive technology, specialized computer training,
web accessibility audits and accessible web design. A graduate of the Critical Disabilities
Studies Program at York University she has conducted research
into accessible technology infrastructures in the workplace. She is currently an advisory member of the AODA Employment
Accessibility Standards Development Committee and member of the
board of directors at ARCH Disability Law.
